Diving Boards for Boats and Family Vacations

Booking a family vacation to Disneyland or Jackson Hole is the easy part. You are sitting comfortably in your recliner looking at beautiful pictures of scenery, hotel rooms and food dishes. The people in the photos are perfect looking as they drink pina coladas with umbrellas in them in fancy glassware.

What you don’t see is the backstory. You don’t see the family on the verge of insanity after spending hours upon hours in the car traveling to their destination. You don’t see pictures of the kids throwing a tantrum because they are bored. You don’t see pictures of dad rolling his eyes as mom tries to figure out where they are heading using the map app. You don’t see pictures of the filthy bathroom at the convenience stores and rest stops you frequently have to use.

While your ultimate destination might be a nice place and you could have fun, the trip there is often a disaster you would rather forget. And let’s face it, the chances are pretty good that the whole trip will be a regret. Disneyland might be cool, but visiting it with tired and dirty children who are bored standing in lines all day is not very much fun.

Our idea of the perfect family vacation is spending a few days on a boat.

Lillipad Marine, your source for diving boards for boats, offers the reasons why family vacations are not fun.

The Whining

We don’t need to go into a whole lot of details here, kids are basically master whiners and seem to be dissatisfied about everything. Kids hate sitting in the car for long periods of time, they hate eating cold sandwiches from the cooler, they hate the music dad plays and they hate the fact that their sibling is touching them.

Sitting is Painful

Sitting for a long period of time is not anybody’s idea of fun. Sitting for a stretch of time leads to a sore butt, numb legs and the urge to stick your head out the window and scream at the top of your lungs.

The Questions

No doubt there will be plenty to see as the hours roll by while you drive to your destination. Nothing allows time for random questions from kids like a road trip. So you can expect to be bombarded with endless questions.

The biggest problem with this is that the questions are usually pretty silly, like “Do worms have mouths” or “Who was the very first person to die?” OMG child, who taught you how to talk?

Gifts Shops

When you are on vacation, everywhere you stop seems to have a gift shop. At first, it is pretty cool, you buy something trivial and move on. But when you hit your fifth or sixth gift shop, the magic is gone and you are just more annoyed than anything.

Oh, and the kids are still asking silly questions.

The Mess

No matter how well you packed the car and how organized you are, within an hour the car will be a hot mess. There is no doubt that one of the kids will spill a sticky drink on the seat and someone will leave chocolate out and it will melt into a big mess.

Parents know that it doesn’t take kids long to make a mess in the car. They do it in the short time it takes to drive to the store, imagine how messy the car will be after an 800-mile trek across four states.

No Basic Pleasures

While on a road trip, you don’t even get to enjoy the most basic pleasures in life. You can just forget about sipping a hot cup of coffee while scrolling Instagram, it isn’t going to happen in the car with kids.

You Wind Up Breaking a Lot of Rules

You were very serious when you laid down the law and made it a house rule that the kids can only spend two hours a day in front of a screen, any screen. That rule went out of the window on the first day of your family vacation.

You really did not think that your kids could spend 14 hours straight watching YouTube videos, but that is just what they did.

Limited Activity

There is not a whole lot you can do while you are stuck in the car traveling or standing in line for the next great ride at Disneyland.

After a few days of this, your children and your spouse will start acting like chained-up animals and they will get frustrated and angry at every little thing. One child will accuse the other of chewing too loudly and then that will eventually lead to a complete meltdown by somebody.

And these are the reasons why you should skip the family vacation and spend time on your boat instead. Visit Lillipad Marine to purchase your boat diving board.
